Mineralogy is a study of rocks ...and can be quite exciting, as long as we don't fill our heads with them. Meinerology is the study of me ...and though you may feel you'd fair better with the rocks, you do not have to torture yourself in an attempt to study me in depth ...as I can sum up my greatest heart's desire by saying you are best served if you study the Bible, not me or anyone else's thoughts alone.

We know the truth, it's often the specifics of what we don't know ...which intrigues us to drift.  Yet, part of the reasoning comes from allowing ourselves to safely drift not far from shore, where our anchor can still firmly hold us.

I've had some interesting conversations about the 'Song of Solomon'.  The fact is ...that the Bible says that Solomon was the wisest ...yet, was he wisest in every area?

Was he wise enough to avoid trouble in his personal life?  We look to more than just the love story in the 'Song of Solomon'.  I had to ask myself whether he was the wisest in the area of love, or was he communicating wisdom by his failures?

Many would say that Solomon knew how to treat a woman ...but, which woman??

Solomon had so many wives, would we assume that he understood more ...because he had so much experience with so many??

His dad, King David, didn't have much success in this area either.  It appears perhaps he was later brought to understand more.  And I think that Solomon also thought of it, after many experiences of drifting away.  

The Song of Solomon seems to describe the church today also, and its relationship.  We can view the church as a conglomeration of various interests, activities, and spiritual engagements, but we are all not to look to the organization solely ...but, to Jesus.

Having been swept away by the activities of his many loves, perhaps, in retrospect, Solomon realized his error ...and tried to get us to realize our own.
